School of Radiologic Technology

The Sentara RMH School of Radiologic Technology has been accredited by the Joint Review committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (www.jrcert.org)  since 1966.

The School of Radiologic Technology at Sentara RMH is one of the most technologically advanced schools of its kind. Becoming a student in this program is a great idea for anyone, including new high school graduates, or anyone who has ever contemplated a change of career.

The School of Radiologic Technology offers:
the chance to enter a challenging career in a high-technology field,
the chance to enter a satisfying career contributing to the care of others,
potential for future growth and specialization in medical imaging such as CT, sonography, nuclear medicine, angiography, mammography, radiation therapy, and MRI,
a stimulating environment for professional development.

In 2013 all students must have an associate's degree or higher before graduating in 2015 to be eligible to take the National ARRT Examination.

The School of Radiologic Technology does not have a federal I.D. number; therefore, we cannot accept Pell Grants or Federal Student Loans.

Clinical Facilities
The Radiology Department offers students experience in and exposure to all aspects of radiography and medical imaging. The student will have the opportunity to observe all modalities of medical imaging and radiation therapy. Also available to the student is the opportunity to gain clinical experience at Sentara RMH East Market Street Health Center, Page Memorial Hospital and Augusta Health.

The Radiologic Technologist
A career in radiologic technology can be personally gratifying because you will be performing a humanitarian service. Radiologic technologists should be willing to work with sick and disabled persons, to be sympathetic and perceptive of their needs, to perform accurate and thorough work, and to work in a field of advancing medical technology. The radiologic technologist is an assertive, ambitious, and flexible individual.
