The School of Medical Technology offers training as a clinical laboratory scientist and was started in 1968. The school offers the opportunity to enter a challenging and highly technical career in the health care industry. Graduates may be employed by hospitals, private or government laboratories, research facilities, medical supply companies, private physician offices and clinics. Some of our graduates continue to pursue an education in medicine and become physicians.
Rockingham Memorial Hospital was founded in 1912 and is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The hospital is a not-for-profit institution that is fully accredited by JACHO and is a community-based regional healthcare facility licensed for 266 beds. The Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency For Clinical Laboratory Sciences and admits from four to eight students per year in June.
The RMH Laboratory is fully accredited and operates its own blood donor collection center.
Mission Statement
It is the mission of the RMH Medical Technology School to graduate beginning medical technologists/clinical laboratory scientists with the skills, knowledge, motivation and insight to excel in the practice of laboratory medicine and to pass national certification examinations. These graduates will be motivated to continue their education and to become our future educators, leaders, innovators and managers in the laboratory. The School will remain on the cutting edge of laboratory education, providing the students with a curriculum
that is current and responsive to the dynamic healthcare environment.
