provides an ideal setting for clinically focused pharmacists looking

Clinical
pharmacists at RMH work in a variety of settings and attend to a
mix of distributive and clinical functions, with at least 50 percent
of their time spent in decentralized clinical functions. Responsibilities
include:

Medication
management, including medication histories and reconciliation; |
 |
Consultative services, including parenteral nutrition, medication
dosing and antibiotic selection/monitoring; |
 |
The development and implementation of protocols or processes
to improve the cost-effectiveness of medication therapy, improve
quality of care, and exceed national quality benchmarks as they
pertain to medication therapy; |
 |
Providing drug information to medical staff, healthcare providers
and the community; |
 |
Supporting the clinical programs of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics
Committee, including adverse drug reaction monitoring, medication
error reporting, therapeutic interchange and formulary compliance,
medication use evaluation, formulary reviews, medication use
guidelines, vaccination protocols, etc; |

Assisting
with the implementation of a PGY-1 Residency Program; |
 |
Mentoring
pharmacy students, residents, and staff pharmacists; |
 |
Supervising
technical staff, including pharmacy clinical assistants; |
 |
Developing
positive and productive relationships with nursing and medical
staff; |
 |
Providing
distributive services, including: supervising, coordinating
and/or participating in order entry; preparation of sterile
admixtures; and dispensing all pharmaceuticals and related supplies
and equipment; |

Working
variable shifts, including evenings and weekends. |
Qualifications
for clinical pharmacists include excellent customer service and
communication skills, a Virginia Pharmacist license, PGY-1 residency
or equivalent, and a strong commitment to deliver exceptional patient
care. Preferred qualifications include recent hospital clinical
experience, board certification in pharmacotherapy, and teaching
experience with pharmacy residents or students.
