Heart Check Program
The RMH Heart Check program offers individualized screenings that assess a person's risk for coronary artery disease, the most common form of heart disease today and the number one cause of death among adults in America. Participants spend an hour one-on-one with Heart Health Navigator Maria Hostetter, RN, to discuss their screening results, risk reduction strategies, and physician follow-up.
| Why is Heart Check so important? |
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in American men and women. |
Major risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, tobacco use, diabetes, physical inactivity and poor nutrition. |
Men and women have different heart attack symptoms. |
Heart disease is the cause of more deaths than all forms of cancer combined. |
Studies suggest that a 10 percent decrease in total cholesterol levels may reduce the development of coronary heart disease by almost 30 percent. |
