Welcome to RMH Heart Check

Heart Check Program

The RMH Heart Check program offers individualized screenings that assess a person's risk for coronary artery disease, the most common form of heart disease today and the number one cause of death among adults in America. Participants spend an hour one-on-one with Heart Health Navigator Maria Hostetter, RN, to discuss their screening results, risk reduction strategies, and physician follow-up.

Why is Heart Check so important?
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in American men and women.
Major risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, tobacco use, diabetes, physical inactivity and poor nutrition.
Men and women have different heart attack symptoms.

Heart disease is the cause of more deaths than all forms of cancer combined.
Studies suggest that a 10 percent decrease in total cholesterol levels may reduce the development of coronary heart disease by almost 30 percent.
