RMH Names Bovis Lend Lease as Construction Manager
for New Hospital and Health Campus
HARRISONBURG – After an extensive selection process, RMH
has named Bovis Lend Lease (BLL) as the construction manager for
the new hospital and health campus to be constructed on the recently
rezoned acreage on Port Republic Road.
Bovis is one of the world’s leading companies in the construction
management and construction services industry and has extensive
experience building new and replacement hospitals. As construction
manager, Bovis will work closely with RMH staff and the architectural
and engineering firms working on the new facility and will oversee
the hiring and work of subcontractors throughout the entire construction
process.
Of the original 16 companies who expressed interest, officials narrowed
the list to four top contenders. “It was a tough decision;
all of the firms could have done a good job,” said Scott Campbell,
RMH senior project manager for the new facility. “With their
extensive work experience in the healthcare arena, we believe Bovis
will provide excellent service and ensure good stewardship of the
hospital’s limited dollars.”
Campbell noted that several Bovis management staff members who will
be intensely involved in the day-to-day operations of the construction
project will relocate to the area for the duration of the project.
Bovis will hold an informational meeting to give area subcontractors
an opportunity to learn about the work that needs to be done and
to indicate their interest in and availability for various projects.
The company will seek applications from local contractors and subcontractors
for the myriad of jobs the hospital project will generate over the
next few years. “This is a community hospital, and we anticipate
generating a lot of local participation,” Campbell said.
Bovis has served more than 300 healthcare clients, including Duke
University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.; Baptist Memorial Health
Care in Memphis, Tenn.; and Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne,
Fla. Over the last 10 years, Bovis has completed 522 healthcare
projects nationally with an aggregate construction value exceeding
$6.2 billion. The company has built more than 65 new/replacement
hospitals at a value of over $2 billion, including Northwest Medical
Center in Oro Valley, Ariz.; Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree,
Colo.; and Presbyterian Hospital of Denton, Texas.
