HARRISONBURG –A giant rendition of the RMH logo has been placed on the new hospital building, high above the main entrance, where it will function as a beacon to signal the new hospital location to travelers.
The half-ton, 13’ by 12’ sign was hoisted in place April 27, using a steel crane, by Eddie Edwards Signs of Harrisonburg. The sign will be lit with LED lighting to conserve electricity and reduce the frequency with which the lighting will need to be replaced, said Dennis Coffman, director, Facilities Planning and Development.
“This sign is the signature of the new RMH hospital and health campus,” Coffman said. “It will be visible as a guidepost to those driving by or visiting the new hospital.”
The sign bears the new RMH corporate logo, unveiled in July 2009, designed to reflect the healing environment of its new hospital and health campus and the fresh, new, compelling patient experience the new facility will offer the community.
Hospital officials note that the new blue-and-green corporate icon represents sky, earth and mountains—a tribute to the beauty of the community and its contribution to the healing environment of the new hospital and its 254-acre health campus.
The new hospital is set to open June 22. A public open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held 1-6 p.m. June 6.
